Electrochemical corrosion behaviour of oxide dispersion strengthened iron aluminides in 3.5 wt % NaCl solution

Electrochemical corrosion and passivation characteristics of the oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) Fe3Al–Ti ODS Fe3Al–Ti–Zr alloys immersed for different exposure times 1, 72, 120, 166 240 h in 3.5 wt % NaCl solution were studied using open-circuit potential, cyclic polarization electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. Both exhibit pitting under chloride ions exposure. In both alloys, rate decreased as immersion time increased beyond 72 similarly up to due formation a passive layer that prevented further corrosion. alloy exhibited more resistance all than alloy. results indicated presence Zr improved resistance, charge transfer its stability which can be attributed better protective compared Even though difference properties two was marginal.
